  1. Received initial training in the field of experimental and clinical organ transplantation at PGI, Chandigarh under Padmashree (Late) Prof R.V.S.Yadav and Padmashree (Late) Prof K.S.Chugh from 1975 to 1981.
  2. Has performed or assisted in performing more than 100 live donor and 8 deceased donor kidney transplantation at PGI, Chandigarh.
  3. Performed about 5000 surgeries for vascular access for hemodialysis including arterio venous shunts, arterio venous fistula and placement of vascular graft. Also performed about 100 surgeries for placement of peritoneal catheter for continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) for terminal CKD patients.
  4. Has performed the first successful kidney transplantation surgery in united Andhra Pradesh in May, 1981 while working as Reader in Organ Transplantation at Institute of Genetics, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
  5. Has performed more than 3500 kidney transplantation surgeries at various Centres across the country from 1981 till date which is considered as the highest by a single surgeon in the country. These include more than 1700 transplant operations performed at Mahavir hospital, Hyderabad which is a charitable organization and cater mostly to patients from the underprivileged section of the society.

  1. Started renal transplantation programme at Gauhati Medical College Hospital, Guwahati, International Hospital, Guwahati, Down Town Hospital, Guwahati and Damani Hospital, Dibrugarh to provide organ transplantation facility to the people of the entire north east part of the country.
  2. Started a charitable organization (North East Care Foundation, NECF) at Guwahati in 2012. The organization provides free basic medical services including free consultation and medicines to patients from the underprivileged section of the society.
  3. Running a free Oral Polio Vaccination programme in collaboration with the health department of government of Assam.
  4. Conducted several medical camps in the area of Gynecology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, General medicine etc. where besides treating patients the population is also educated about importance of prevention and early detection of various diseases.
  5. Recently NECF has taken active interest in creating awareness about organ donation after brain death and conducted several meetings at various places of the state.
  6. Personally participated in various television talk shows and written articles in the local newspapers/ magazines about organ transplantation and organ donation.
  7. Facilitated in procuring deceased donor organ (kidneys) from brain dead donor at Hyderabad for two patients from Assam to get the benefit of transplantation. They are the first patients from the entire north east part of the country to receive organs from brain dead donor.
  8. Donated Rupees Two Lacs to the Assam Chief Ministers Relief fund to support the victims of flood in the state of Assam.

Has performed or assisted in performing more than 100 Kidney Transplant operations at the said institute.

  13. Performed nearly 200 cadaver kidney transplantation (Kidneys removed from brain dead donors) at Hyderabad which is one of largest series by a single surgeon in the country.
  14. Performed En Bloc Renal Transplantation from an 18 month old cadaver donor considered to be the youngest cadaver donor in the country. Has also successful transplanted two kidneys from a 78 year old cadaver donor considered to be the eldest cadaver donor the country
  15. Secured highest aggregate marks in Biology in the state of Assam in Higher Secondary Examination (1961)
  16. Stood fourth in order of merit in the final M.B.B.S examination conducted by Guwahati University in 1967. Studied medicine with the support of a scholarship by the government of Assam for the economically backward students.
  17. Secured Bronze medal in the M.S (Surgery) examination at the Postgraduate Medical Institute, Chandigarh in 1975.
